More School PhotosTeachers, dentists and hygienists find the Supertooth Plaque Watch School Project easy to demonstrate where plaque collects on teeth and how to clean food and plaque from teeth.
Any food dye from a dropper bottle will fill the outer open half cells on a strip of dental foam which is then wiped over upper front teeth by participants as in the photos.
Food dye shows that plaque grows at gum margins and between front teeth only in class.
The most convenient way to remove this plaque in class and food food after eating is to wipe the strip of dental foam over teeth under finger pressure and hold the strip like floss and clean between teeth then chew like gum.
Food dye can be applied to back teeth as well at home and brushed to compare effectiveness of brushing and chewing fibre or using dental foam.
Celery too is a great to chew after eating to remove food and prevent sugar being changed to acid that attacks teeth causing cavities.
Almost all cavities occur between teeth and inside grooves on chewing surfaces where the toothbrush cannot reach.
Plaque grows at gum margins between teeth and inside grooves so it is imprtant to brush and floss before breakfast and seal grooves before eating so plaque cannot change sugar to acid.
